Police have asked the three men believed have been forced at gunpoint by Modimolle resident Johan Kotze to assault a woman to come forward and help with the investigation.

The men “had nothing to fear”, but police needed their input in the ongoing search for Kotze, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said on Tuesday.

Investigators had not arrested Kotze by lunchtime on Tuesday.

He has been on the run since orchestrating an attack on a woman in her home and killing her son, Conrad Bonnette, 19, a week ago.

The three men, who allegedly carried out Kotze's instructions while being held at gunpoint, were employed by him.

Mulaudzi said the men were victims of a crime and were probably traumatised.

“We don't know what has happened to them,” he said. “If they can, we appeal to them to come forward and make themselves known to police.” – Sapa
