22 more Covid-19 deaths, infections at 22 583

CAPE TOWN- Covid-19 fatalities in South Africa have increased by 22, bringing the total to 429, while infections now stand at22 583, an increase of 1 240.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the latest numbers during his live address to the nation on Sunday.

South Africa is set to enter alert level 3 of the national lockdown from 1 June.

Ramaphosa said that around half of the Covid-19 cases recorded in the country have recovered.

Active coronavirus cases now stand at just over 11 000.
