CAPE TOWN - A lot of uncertainty surrounded the initial lockdown announcement which led to mass panic, the spread of fake news and stockpiling of food but South Africans have managed to beat the odds.
Here are 5 creative and innovative ideas South Africans came up with during lockdown:
1) LANGA TEENS RUN R9 DELIVERY SERVICE ON BICYCLES
Cloudy Deliveries based in Langa run by teenage boys on bicycles is a new delivery service that transports essential goods, groceries and packages at a flat rate of R9 per delivery.

2) MATRIC LESSONS ON RADIO, ONLINE FOR COVID-19 AFFECTED STUDENTS
Radio stations such as Ukhozi FM, Vuma FM, East Coast Radio and Gagasi FM in KwaZulu-Natal started providing matric lessons via radio and newspapers from Monday to Friday at different time slots.

3) LAVENDER HILL RESIDENT FEEDS 300 KIDS DURING LOCKDOWN
One of many feeding schemes which popped up in and around the townships and Cape Flats communities, a Lavender Hill resident Mark Nicholson help to feed over 300 children in his community.

4) Quench delivery app collaborated with Woolworths SA to provide same-day delivery of groceries
Quench co-founder and MD Liam McCreedy said after the start-up re-engineered its app from an alcohol to a grocery delivery service, it has seen a significant spike in downloads and new active users

5) DURBAN ARTISTS UNITE TO SHARE HOPE DURING LOCK-DOWN
Durban based musical group produced the collaboration with artists around the city to share a message of hope during the Covid-19 lockdown.
