CAPE TOWN -

The DHL Stormers were in action at the weekend to help the Western Cape Government in setting up the Brackengate field hospital.

The construction of the facility started just over a month ago as part of the Hospital of Hope initiative as the province prepares for the peak of coronavirus infections.

The care facility will have 338 beds and over 300 staff members to assist Covid-19 related patients.

“This is a world-class facility and it is really heartening to see everyone come together in this way to deliver quality care for those that need it in such a short space of time,” said captain Siya Kolisi.

“As a squad, we were honoured to play a small role in helping to deliver healthcare to those suffering from this virus,” he said.

The facility has an on-site pharmacy, mobile x-ray machine, on-site specialists and will be admitting its first patients on July 10.
