#SAlockdown : All the rules you need to know

CAPE TOWN- The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Services (SAPS) are gearing up across the country to assist government to limit the spread of Coronavirus during the National lockdown.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Monday evening that the country will go into lockdown for 21 days from midnight on Thursday. South Africans have been instructed to “stay at home” until April 16.

This is how it will go down across these sectors ;

JUSTICE

- Masters office will remain open

- No inmates from prisons will be transported to courts

- Courts will be open for matters related to Covid-19, domestic violence

- All courts and prisons will be disinfected as advised by Department of Health

POLICE

Following will be closed ;

- Religious, cultural, sporting, recreational will be closed

- Goods other than essential

- Parks beaches, swimming pools, open air markets

- Nightclubs, casinos, hotels, guest houses

- Game reserves, resorts

- Taverns, Shebeens, ShisaNyama, pubs

- Bottle stores

- Theaters, shopping malls, cinemas

- Taxi ranks, airports, train stations

- Restaurants

- No gatherings except for funerals -limited to 50 mourners

Other Regulations

- No dog walking or jogging

- No movement of liquor (Not in your car etc)

- Units dealing with domestic violence have been ramped up, here's the emergency number -0800150150

If you are in breach of the above - you face 6 months in prison, a fine or both.

SANDF

- SANDF to assist SAPS with implemented measures meant to contain spread of virus

- Assist with Roadblocks and foot patrols

- Safeguarding borders and ports of entry

- Mobile and foot patrols

- Conduct cordon and search operations

TRANSPORT

- All passenger rail services suspended

- All International and Domestic air travel suspended

- Minibus Taxis, metered taxis, e-hailing services only allowed to transport essential services employees or public between 5-9am and 4-6pm daily

- All cruise ships suspended

Here's what you can do ;

- When you're going to seek medical care, buy groceries, visit a pharmacy, access banking services, fill up on petrol or collect a social grant.
