SANDF mobilised to implement #SAlockdown

CAPE TOWN- President Cyril Ramphosa announced earlier this evening that t

he South African National Defense Force (SANDF) will assist with implementing measures related to the nationwide lockdown.

In his address Ramaphosa outlined the South African government’s response to the rapidly spreading Coronavirus.

"I have accordingly directed the South African National Defence Force be deployed to support the South African Police Service in ensuring that the measures we are announcing are implemented," he said.

A national lockdown of 21 days will be implemented from midnight on Thursday the 26th of March causing the closure of various non-essential businesses and the regulation of movement in the country.

The army will be providing support for the police in support of government's efforts to contain the spread of the potetially deadly Covid-19 disease.
