With over one million sales in South Africa, the mask includes a five-layered filtered uni-directional valve system, providing further safety to mask wearers.

Best friends and business partners, Dr Chad Marthinussen and Gino Lange from Paarl and Woodstock respectively, launched Wave Innovate last year with the vision of becoming one of Africa’s leading tech solutions companies.

“Masks are here to stay, Covid-19 or not this has become the new normal and the health benefits have already been demonstrated with common contagious illnesses like colds and flu cases plummeting this winter,” said co-founder Marthinussen.

“Our goal is to deliver a lifestyle mask for civilian use that is comfortable and safe, for us these two go hand in hand.

“There is no point in a mask that constantly needs to be readjusted on the face, a mask that is not comfortable is a serious health risk as the wearer is constantly readjusting and the risk of contamination from hand contact becomes a major issue.

“The Nano Wave is a mask designed to be both comfortable and safe and our innovation is based on this premise,” he said.

The combat sports community from the likes of three-time World Bantamweight Champion John Riel Casimero, Freddie Roach trainer to Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Mike Tyson and Amir Khan has endorsed the Nano Wave mask.

“This is the most comfortable mask I have used; the product is sound and gets two thumbs up from me. We look forward to collaborating with Nano Wave” said Sean Gibbons, president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions.
