CAPE TOWN -

While the easing of certain restrictions is welcomed by South Africans, President Cyril Ramaphosa stressed the importance of continuing to follow the Covid-19 safety rules to prevent a resurgence.

During his address to the nation, the President said that they’re working closely with the Eastern Cape government as it was identified as a hotspot following a surge in the province.

Meanwhile, experts have warned of a second wave and that testing would help the country to prevent a second wave of the virus.

“We would like to do as much as we can to protect the health of the people in South Africa,” said Prof Anne von Gottberg.

“I think trying to bring in as much testing as possible and using it in the best way possible can make a difference,” she said.
