CAPE TOWN –

With the constant debate around whether schools should close due to the continued rise in Covid-19 infections, the Department of Education has been in consultation with various stakeholders and is expected to announce their decision this week.

A proposal was made by the Education union Naptosa to close schools and reopen at the end of August.

Meanwhile, spokesman for the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU), Mugwena Maluleke said they’ve been engaging with the department since Friday and are confident that schools will close.
