WATCH LIVE: President Ramaphosa addresses the nation at 8pm

CAPE TOWN- President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to address the nation at 8pm on Thursday regarding the developments in South Africa’s risk-adjusted strategy to manage the spread of Covid-19.

The President’s address follows a number of meetings of the Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council.

With the constant debate around whether schools should close due to the continued rise in Covid-19 infections, many teachers unions, parent and pupils will be eager to hear from the President on whether schools will close during the peak of the pandemic.

A proposal was made by the Education union Naptosa to close schools and reopen at the end of August.

The country has recorded a total of 5 940 Covid-19 deaths and infections are at 394 948.
