CAPE TOWN- For the first time in well over two months, South Africans are now allowed to buy alcohol again and the lift of the ban has attracted long queues outside of bottle stores.

Alert level 3 regulations kicked in on Monday and any licensed alcohol outlet is able to sell from Monday to Thursday between 9 am and 5 pm.

Alcohol sales were prohibited under levels 4 and 5 of the national lockdown.

Thousands of eager customers lined up at various bottle stores across the country to purchase alcohol for the first time in 6 days.
