Cape Town – A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Hanover Park by alleged gangsters.

His mother Kashiefa Mohammed described her son, Rafik’s last moments.

“The gangsters wanted to hit his friend. He told them to leave his friend. Then they turned on him. Five gangsters ran after them with a gun. They ran to his girlfriend’s house. The gangsters caught up with them and they stabbed him in the heart. He died on his girlfriend’s floor,” she said.

Her son was a Grade 10 pupil at Crystal High. “My son wasn’t involved in gangs.” Mohammed said she was involved in the Community Police Forum (CPF) and comforted mothers who lost loved ones in gang violence, but this time tragedy came her way. “We know who the killers are."

"The gangsters are getting away with it. Nobody does anything.” Weldan Cameron secretary of the CPF said: “Its like war has been declared on us, but we will continue to do what we do best.”
