KwaZulu-Natal - Three men travelling in a small car with 10 goats were arrested this week when patrolling KwaZulu-Natal police became suspicious of their vehicle.

The trio appeared in the Louwsburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of stock theft.

The men, aged between 21 and 42, were arrested on Tuesday morning in Waterval, near Mhlabaneni, after the goats were found in the Ford Fiesta with them.

“Police were conducting patrols along Nongoma Road when they stopped the suspects, who were driving a suspicious motor vehicle with no registration number,” said police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane.

“The police found three goats in the back seat of the car and another seven in the boot.”

The men could not give a reasonable account of why they had them, he said.

A case of possession of suspected stolen property is being investigated by the Vryheid SAPS stock theft unit.

Zwane said he did not know the outcome of the court appearance, because the docket was still at the court. - Daily News
