Five men have been arrested for housebreaking in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

The men, aged between 21 and 33, were arrested at a car check-point on Thursday, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

Police found a family photo album, a laptop, jewellery, R1500 in cash, and four cellphones in the men's grey Toyota Conquest, he said.

They were arrested when they could not explain how they came to be in possession of the items.

“Police later discovered they were stolen in a house in the area,” said Zwane.

The men would appear soon in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court. – Sapa
