Johannesburg - Seven large bags of dagga were found at the Madala hostel in Alexandra, Johannesburg, police said on Wednesday.

Captain Kym Cloete said police received a tip-off about dagga-dealing in the hostel and conducted a search on Tuesday.

“(The) suspects saw the police and fled, but police were able to confiscate dagga weighing approximately 75kg,” said Cloete.

It had an estimated street value of R770 000.
