Alleged copper thieves caught wrapped in cables

Rustenburg - Three men were arrested for illegal possession of copper cable with an estimated street value of R20 000 in Phokeng on Thursday, North West police said.

Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said police on a routine patrol duties spotted a suspicious vehicle at 6am. They stopped the vehicle. 

During the search, copper cables weighing 175.90 kilogram with estimated street value of R20 000 was found wrapped around the men's bodies. Two jackets, trousers and a cap suspected to have been stolen were found inside the boot of the vehicle.

The men aged between 25 and 29 were immediately arrested for illegal possession of copper cables. They will appear in the Bafokeng Magistrate's Court in Tlhabane on Friday.
