Rustenburg - Three alleged gang members accused of murdering a rival gangster were remanded in custody, North West police said on Wednesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Pelonomi Makau said Ansa Mendela, 20, Motlatsi Mogoemang, 22 and Muziwamadoda Nnqweqwe, 20, appeared in the Stilfontein Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, and their case was postponed to April 24.

They are facing charges of murder and attempted murder. Makau said the three were arrested on Monday following a fight between two gangs from Khuma near Klerksdorp.

"It is alleged a fight ensued between the Hard Livings and Crazy Dogs at a tavern in Extension 6, in Khuma, when a suspect from the Hard Livings gang allegedly stabbed three members of Crazy Dogs."

She said the three were rushed to a clinic where one of them aged 23 died. The other two were transferred to Tshepong Hospital in Klerksdorp.

"The fourth suspect is still at large and the investigation continues," said Makau.
