Durban - Two alleged hijackers have appeared in the Ubombo Magistrate's Court, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

Fana Innocent Mdluli, 37, and Bheki Herbeerd Zulu, 36, appeared on Wednesday on a charge of hijacking a Toyota Hi-ace taxi and of possession of an unlicensed firearm, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

Mdluli and Zulu allegedly hijacked a 26-year-old taxi driver who picked them up in the Dunduluzi area, near Nongoma, on Tuesday.

Police chased the minibus on the N2, between Pongola and Mkuze, and arrested the two men when they ran into sugar cane field. - Sapa
