Eastern Cape -

An alleged rapist has handed himself over to Eastern Cape police because Dutywa residents were “after him”, police said on Monday.

It was alleged that the 25-year-old man had raped a 70-year-old woman in that area on Saturday evening, said Major Ernest Sigobe.

The man has been detained by police and is due to appear in court soon facing a charge of rape.

“Community members are advised to report incidents of this nature to the police and also not take the law into their own hands as that might jeopardise the investigation...” he said. - Sapa
