A gang of three men linked to at least 46 crimes ranging from murder to car-jacking has been arrested, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.
Leiutenent-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said two of the three had been apprehended following a shoot-out with police in the KwaMaphumulo area, north of Durban.
The 26 and 27-year-old suspects clashed with police after hijacking a lorry. Their capture led police to the arrest of a 63-year old man in the same area.
Mdunge said police believed he was the leader of the gang.
Guns and ammunition including an AK-47 assault rifle were seized from the three men.
They were expected to appear in the KwaMaphumulo Magistrate's Court later on Friday.
