Coligny – A bus was torched in Bapong near Brits on Wednesday afternoon, during a protest, North West police said.

Warrant Officer Mpeile Talane of the Brits police said there was only the driver in the bus, he managed to alight and escape with no injuries.

"The protest is related to employment at Lonmin mine," he said.

"Public Order Police are on the ground monitoring the situation in Bapong as well as the Sun City road and the N4 linking Rustenburg and Pretoria."

No arrest has been made and investigation continues.
