Cape Town - Forty-one people were arrested during patrols and roadblocks around Cape Town at the weekend, metro police said on Monday.

Deputy metro police chief Yolanda Faro said the arrests were mainly for drunken driving.

Officers issued 441 traffic fines and recorded 30 by-law offences.

“One suspect was also arrested on charges of crimen injuria when officers responded to a complaint in the Cape Town CBD.”

Three people were arrested for possession of drugs. One was caught with dagga in Maitland, another was found with 18 packets of tik in Hanover Park, while the third was found with heroin in Heideveld.

Those arrested were scheduled to appear in various courts on Monday. - Sapa
