Kimberley - A man accused of rape and child pornography will apply for bail in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court this week, Northern Cape police said on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old photographer appeared in court on Monday charged with three counts of rape and manufacturing child pornography, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.

His bail application would be heard on Thursday.

Police confiscated thousands of photographs of naked children at his home studio in Kimberley.

“Police are appealing to the public who may have engaged (his) services to contact them as more charges may emanate through identification of the photos.”

He was arrested on May 23 and first appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on May 26.
