A Cape Town metro police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping and assaulting his girlfriend.
The cop, based at the Hillstar traffic department in Ottery, was charged with rape and common assault on Wednesday, said Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesman Moses Dlamini. He said the victim allegedthat the accused hit her until she fainted and when she woke up her boyfriend was raping her.
“The suspect was charged on May 2 and appeared at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court (Thursday). He is out on bail,” Dlamini said.
