Cape Town - A 33-year-old police officer shot and wounded his wife and then turned the gun on himself in Kwanonqaba, near Mossel Bay, on Thursday, Western Cape police said.

Constable Zingisa Ntlemeza apparently had an argument with his wife. He shot her before killing himself, Captain Bernadine Steyn said.

The 30-year-old woman was wounded in her shoulder and in a stable condition in hospital.

“We have opened an attempted murder and inquest case dockets for investigation.”
