KwaZulu-Natal - A man has been arrested for attacking a police officer with a knife in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said the officer was attacked while trying to arrest the 33-year-old man on Tuesday.

The officer retaliated and shot the man in his thigh. He was taken to hospital.

Zwane said the man would appear soon in the Port Shepstone Magistrate's Court on charges of attempted murder and possession of suspected stolen property. - Sapa
