Free State – The body of an employer was found on her bedroom floor in Parys in the Free State by her domestic worker, provincial police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Captain Livhuhani Hani, said the domestic worker discovered the body of 46-year-old Ronele Claasen when reporting for duty on Thursday.

She notified police who declared the victim dead on the scene.

It subsequently emerged that while on patrol in the town at around 10pm on Wednesday, police spotted a vehicle driving without its headlights on.

"The police tried to stop the vehicle which had the number plates from Botswana and the driver stopped the vehicle and ran away," Hani said.

"The police searched the vehicle and found a television and electrical appliances inside the vehicle."

"The vehicle was impounded to the police station for further investigation. It was later discovered that the vehicle belonged to the deceased," he added.

A murder case was opened for further investigation and anyone with information was asked to contact Parys police on 056 816 2534 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
