Port Elizabeth - Dagga worth about R531 000 on the street was seized and two people were arrested in Sterkspruit, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

The pair jumped out of their silver Toyota Quantum and tried to run away when the police stopped it around 5am on Wednesday morning, said Captain Ursula Roelofse.

Twenty bags of dagga were found in the vehicle. The two would appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrate's Court on Friday.

“We will continue to pull out all stops to ensure that we stop the proliferation of drugs in our province,” Roelofse said. - Sapa
