Durban - A Watches Unlimited outlet was again targeted by a crowbar-wielding gang, this time at the Ballito Junction Mall. The robbers also stole a two-way radio and cellphone from a security guard.
According to IPSS Rescue, four suspects - two armed with handguns - forced the guard into the mall while on his patrol at 11pm on Thursday. They fled in a white BMW.
On Friday, shop manager Sumendren Pillay was picking up the pieces and said: “There's quite a bit of damage here. Cabinets appear to have been shattered by crowbars and hammers.”
In another incident, robbers smashed into a mall in Dr AB Xuma Street, in Durban, yesterday morning. Blue Security's Andreas Mathios said clothing was stolen.
On Tuesday at the Hillcrest Mall in Old Main Road, a gang of three, carrying hammers, attacked an outlet at 7pm.
