Uitenhage - A 29-year-old drug dealer was fined R600 by the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Monday, Eastern Cape police said.

He would be jailed for 60 days if he failed to pay the fine, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei said.

The man was arrested on Sunday after he was found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R20 000.

He was arrested in Kamesh, near Port Elizabeth, after residents contacted police.

Two other men, aged 22 and 40, were arrested in the same area for alleged drug dealing. They also appeared in the same court.

Seekoei said their case was provisionally withdrawn pending tests to verify if the substance found in their possession was Mandrax.
