Johannesburg -

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his former girlfriend in Teko Springs village in Centane, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

“Centane police detectives arrested a 31-year-old man for the alleged rape of his former girlfriend,” Captain Jackson Manatha said.

“It is alleged that the victim had visited her current boyfriend on Saturday, June 28 during the evening at Mkhwaneni location, Teko Springs village, Centane.”

It was believed that the man arrived at the current boyfriend's homestead and found the woman there.

He then allegedly asked the woman why she was there, and forcibly took the woman to his home.

“He then assaulted the victim and raped her,” Manatha said.

The man was arrested on Thursday.

He was expected to appear in the Centane Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
