Johannesburg – The Golden Highway between the N12 and Union Road on Tuesday remained impassable a day after protesters from Eldorado Park left debris, including rocks, strewn along the thoroughfare.

"Roads inside of Ennerdale, Orange Farm, and Lawley closed today due to protests and reason for that protests is not yet confirmed," said Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson (JMPD) Wayne Minnaar.

On Monday, residents of Eldorado Park and Freedom Park took to the street to protest against poor service delivery and a perennial housing shortage.

They set alight tyres in the streets and barricaded roads.
