Bloemfontein - A man believed to be involved in an alleged rightwing plot to commit acts of terrorism appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Louis Lategan, 31, of Aberdeen, faces charges of treason and conspiracy to plan acts of terrorism. The case was postponed to February 7. He remains in custody.
The matter will be joined with that of four other rightwing members who have already appeared in court in connection with the same investigation.
Hein Boonzaaier, 50, of Centurion was granted bail of R80 000 last week.
Martin Keevy, 47, of Bloemfontein, Johan Prinsloo, 49, of Naboomspruit and Mark Trollip, 49, of Douglas, were denied bail.
They were arrested on December 16, 2012, the Day of Reconciliation, for allegedly planning to kill African National Congress leaders by detonating a bomb at the party’s national elective conference in Bloemfontein. - Sapa
