Cape Town - A former museum curator facing fraud charges appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Bellville on Thursday.
Lunga Smile, 35, was the curator and manager at the Lwandle Migrant Labour Museum, in Somerset West near Cape Town, until he and a colleague were arrested in April.
Smile and Lungiswa Teka, 32, the former administrator at the museum, made their third appearance before Magistrate Sabrina
Sonnenberg.
The matter was postponed to June 24, and the two are out on a warning.
Their arrest on fraud charges followed an audit, which uncovered irregularities involving R139 000.
The State alleges that Smile and Teka fraudulently channelled different amounts into their own bank accounts between May 2010 and February 2012.
According to the charge sheet, Teka's responsibilities as administrator included balancing the ledger of bank statements.
The State alleges that she deliberately omitted fraudulent payments into her own bank account when reporting to the museum board.
