Four police employees allegedly involved in the rape of a Bonteheuwel woman and filming of the act inside a toilet at Elsies River police station are to go on trial in the Western Cape High Court.
Former warrant officer Theodore Syster, constable Jaede Fillies, admin-clerk Beverly Carelse and constable Theo van Wyk appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
They were first arrested in mid-2010 and the case was moved to Parow Regional Court for trial but in March last year, the matter was struck from the court roll.
But the Director of Public Prosecutions decided to recharge the men and move the case to the High Court for trial.
They were released and warned to appear in the High Court on June 1 for a pre-trial conference
It is the State’s case that Syster and Fillies kidnapped the 29-year-old woman and her boyfriend from Greenpark Epping in Elsies River, where they had parked.
The man was later released.
Syster allegedly asked the woman to accompany him and Fillies to the second floor of the building.
After she used the toilet, the officers entered and Syster allegedly instructed her to show Fillies her private parts.
When she refused, Syster kissed her and Fillies video-recorded the incident on his cellphone.
The woman’s pants were down and her genitals exposed.
