Johannesburg - A man appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday for allegedly stabbing his friend to death, Gauteng police said.

“The case was postponed to next week Thursday for a formal bail application,” said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele.

The 28-year-old handed himself to Johannesburg central police on Tuesday around 4pm.

Sibusiso Nala, 30, was stabbed once in the upper body at the Calcium Building, on the corner of Goud and Jeppe streets, at noon on Monday.

“The deceased and a suspect were friends. They had an argument concerning a phone that was missing. They started to fight and the suspect took out a knife and stabbed his friend,” Mbele said at the time.

Nala died on the scene and his friend fled to Alexandra.
