Cape Town - A woman who was hijacked told cops her kidnappers had human body parts with them, which they dumped while driving around with her.
Police arrested six people in connection with the incident on Wednesday.
The suspects, two women and four men, were nabbed in Malan Street in Eastridge, Mitchells Plain, on Wednesday morning following a high-speed chase.
The hijacked woman was found unharmed in her car, a white Nissan Juke.
Police sources say the terrified victim claimed she had witnessed the gang dumping human body parts in the vicinity of Eastridge.
The source says: “According to the victim, they were having human body parts that they offloaded somewhere in the area of Eastridge.”
Detectives immediately started searching the locations pointed out by the woman, but found nothing, “not even a trace of blood”.
The six are expected to appear in court this week on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle.
The drama unfolded on Old Paarl Road in Oakdale, Bellville, where the group apparently hijacked the Nissan Juke and used two other vehicles, a VW Golf Chico and a Toyota Tazz, to carry out their alleged crimes.
Vigilant cops noticed the three suspicious-looking vehicles and gave chase in the Eastridge area.
The chase ended in Malan Street where cops arrested all six suspects.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirms: “A case of theft of motor vehicle is under investigation. The incident occurred in Old Paarl Road, Oakdale, Bellville.”
Spokesperson for the Mitchells Plain Police Station, Captain Ian Williams, says cops followed up on the claims of the dumped body parts but found nothing.
“Our shift arrested six suspects, one vehicle was hijacked in Bellville with the victim inside. Two other vehicles were used to intercept,” he explains.
“The victim’s claim [about human body parts] were looked into, all the places pointed out were searched by police but there was nothing."
“There was also no sign of blood to be found.”
When the Daily Voice team questioned residents in Malan Street, people said they had no knowledge of the arrests made.
