Durban - A KwaZulu-Natal man collapsed in a cafe in New Germany after being shot in the head in a hijacking, paramedics said on Wednesday.

The man was shot on Tuesday evening.

“Shortly after 6pm... paramedics from ER24 and EMRS received an emergency call from a distressed patron at a cafe in New Germany... explaining that a man was apparently hijacked and shot in the head.

“The man stumbled into the cafe and collapsed on the floor,” said ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak.

He said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the man lying in a pool of blood.

“He was very disorientated, they (paramedics) immediately attempted to stop the bleeding and stabilise the injured man before rushing him off to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.” - Sapa
