Johannesburg - A man who saw Bheki Lukhele being beaten and having boiling water poured over his head did not pity him, the High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, heard on Wednesday.
“I couldn't pity him... When someone does something wrong, you can't feel pity for them,” said State witness Vusi Msimango. He was being cross-examined by Annelene van den Heever, for Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir.
Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, Warrant Officers Samuel Modise Maropeng and George Jess Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya are on trial for dealing in drugs, and the attempted murder and kidnapping of Lukhele. They have all pleaded not guilty.
Lukhele was tortured in a bid to make him reveal the whereabouts of his brother Doctor. Doctor worked for a cargo company at OR Tambo International Airport and allegedly disappeared with 25kg of tik which he had been tasked to transport to Australia.
Msimango said he was not sure about the injuries Lukhele sustained, but said he saw blisters on his cheeks.
“I couldn't go and lift his clothes and see his injuries. The top of his head was peeling because of the boiling water,” said Msimango, a 47-year-old Boksburg businessman.
