Cape Town - A Johannesburg woman, who was arrested at the Cape Town International Airport allegedly in possession of cocaine with a street value of R250 000, appeared in court on Monday.

Philili Belinda Zwane, 38, appeared in the Bellville District Court, where she was remanded to Friday, for bail information.

The weight of the cocaine found on her, last week Friday, could not be immediately established.

The remand will give the prosecuting authorities time to probe her background, in order to determine whether she has any previous convictions, outstanding warrants for her arrest, or pending criminal cases.

This information will enable the State to decide wither to release her on bail, or oppose bail.

Defence lawyer Neil Slabber told the court that he had instructions to launch a bail application on her behalf, on Friday.
