Durban -

Two men were expected to appear in a KwaZulu-Natal court on Friday on seven murder charges, police said.

Mzokhona Mnyandu, 49, and Sifiso Mathonsi, 48, stand accused of shooting dead seven men in Pomeroy in northern KwaZulu-Natal in August, said Colonel Vincent Mdunge.

The two men were arrested on November 27 and appeared in the Nqutu Magistrate' Court two days later. Their case was postponed until Friday.

Those killed were affiliated to a community-based anti-stock theft organisation called Isikebhe in the Thaleni area in Msinga.

The men apprehended a stock theft suspect but were attacked by community members.

“The Isikebhe members fled on foot and were cornered and attacked by the community members. Seven Isikebhe members were shot dead and one or two injured during the attack,” said Mdunge. - Sapa
