Soweto - A man believed to be a multiple murderer in Lesotho has been arrested in Soweto, south of Johannesburg, police said on Wednesday.

“His arrest in Zola came a result of a tip-off from those who knew his background,” spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

“Upon further investigations, it was found that he was wanted for multiple murders in Lesotho before he fled to South Africa.”

The 29-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on open veld in Zola, Soweto.

Makhubele said police were in the process of extraditing the man back to Lesotho.

“We are currently busy trying to process documents for the man to be extradited to Lesotho where he will stand trial,” he said. - Sapa
