Johannesburg - Magistrate Brian Nemavhidi will continue handing down judgment in the murder trial of hip-hop star Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and his co-accused Themba Tshabalala on Thursday.
Nemavhidi started handing down judgment in a packed Protea Magistrate's Court in Soweto on Wednesday.
He recounted the evidence given in the trial, which started in 2010, quoting from the testimony of specialists, analysts, witnesses and police officers.
Maarohanye and Tshabalala face charges of murder, attempted murder, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and failing to assess the injuries of the victims.
They are accused of killing four school children while allegedly drag-racing in Protea North in March 2010. Four youngsters died and two were seriously injured when their Mini Coopers ploughed into the children.
The magistrate referred to evidence by a video expert, who testified about the authenticity of the three-second video recording of the alleged race, to Maarohanye and Tshabalala's response at the accident scene, and to police officers' conduct throughout the case.
