Cape Town - Three suspects were arrested during a joint operation between the police’s crime intelligence unit and the City of Cape Town’s metro drug unit in Hout Bay on Friday.

The suspects were arrested in The Heights for “cultivating” drugs as well as possession.

Magic mushrooms with an estimated street value of R80 000 were found in the residence on Seagull Avenue. A 46-year-old woman was arrested.

Her 19-year-old son and his friend arrived at the residence during the bust.

After they were searched, LSD and magic mushroom were found in their vehicle. They were also arrested.

R50 000 cash was also confiscated at the residence.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel André Traut said: “The suspects are detained until their court appearance (Monday) in Wynberg.”

Commenting on the arrests, Len Swimmer, chairman of the Hout Bay Residents and Ratepayers Association, said he believed job creation was the key to solving the socio-economic issues in the area.
