Polokwane - Prominent Limpopo attorney Tumi Mokoena, facing four counts of attempted murder, was granted R10 000 bail in the Lebowakgomo Magistrates' court on Tuesday.

Mokoena was arrested last week at a citrus farm in Zebediela outside Polokwane after an altercation ensued during a meeting he held with workers.

Police said Mokoena produced a firearm and shot at four people aged 32, 50, 52 and 38 and then fled the scene in his vehicle.

The injured suffered serious gun shot wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment. Mokoena is Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema's attorney.

The red berets leader arrived in court on Tuesday to lend support to his lawyer.

Mokoena represented Malema in his dispute with the SA Revenue Services (Sars) and the land invasion cases in KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State courts.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Moatshe Ngoepe said Mokoena would be back in court on August 25.
