Johannesburg - A Nigerian man was arrested on Thursday after drugs worth more than R30 000 were found in his rented room in Germiston, said Ekurhuleni police.

Police found a total of 24 packets of the drug cat, 18 pieces of rock, 22 packets of heroin, one and a quarter moon crack cocaine, three mandrax tablets, three CSD's, 500g of dagga and 119 ecstasy tablets hidden in a roof ceiling, said Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng.

The drugs and the man's two cellphones were confiscated.

The 29-year-old was charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances.

He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
