Bloemfontein - A Free State mother and her 11-year-old daughter were found dead in their home in the Theosane section of Bolata Village in Qwaqwa, police said on Thursday.
Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said neighbours discovered the bodies around 7am on Thursday. The woman, 40, and her daughter had been stabbed several times and their bodies were on a bed.
The motive for the killings was not clear.
Police said two cellphones appeared to be missing from the house.
Mophiring said the attackers had gained entry to the house by breaking a window. - Sapa
