Cape Times - Additional security resources are to be deployed to the Slangkop Mountain area near Kommetjie after two women and a teenager were held up at gunpoint.

Tracy-Lee Palframan and Robyn Menzies, along with Menzies’s 15-year-old daughter, were hiking on Wednesday about 3pm near the blockhouse when they were accosted by two men.

The women were unharmed but were robbed of a backpack containing two iPhones, keys, wallets with cards and cash, water bottles, an orange whistle and a knitting bag, said provincial police spokesman Frederick van Wyk.

Investigations into the robbery were continuing.

“Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) is working closely with police on the matter and will deploy additional resources to the area. Visible policing, observation points and the dog unit will be measures to deter further crime, while there will be investigations into reasons for this recent crime,” said TMNP manager Paddy Gordon.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
