Wekom - Copper cable was stolen from the electrical workshop at the Matjhabeng Municipality in Welkom, Free State police said on Friday.

The cable was stolen on December 28, when two men approached security guards on duty and ordered them, at gunpoint, to lie down, Constable Kethabile Mofokeng said.

The men broke open the door to the storeroom at the workshop, and took copper cable worth R19 040.

“No shots were fired during the robbery and thus nobody sustained any injuries,” Mofokeng said.

No arrests were made and police were investigating.
