The case against a man accused of raping 10 primary school boys in Mankweng was postponed on Thursday, Limpopo police said.

The 30-year-old appeared in the Mankweng Regional Court, where he was denied bail, Constable Moses Molepo said.

His trial was scheduled to start on April 4.

He allegedly raped nine pupils from a local primary school, where he worked as a security guard. The other boy went to another school in the area.

He allegedly persuaded boys between the ages of eight and 10 to follow him into the bushes to help him look for domestic animals. He then allegedly demanded sex from them. The crimes were committed between 2010 and 2012. He was arrested on September 4.

In 2004, he was convicted of raping seven boys and sentenced to 12 years in jail. Half his sentence was suspended on condition he would not be convicted of the same offence. - Sapa
